Seminar On Children's Rights and Domestic Violence For Circuit Judges and Magistrates In Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Region

A Seminar on Children's Rights and Domestic Violence for Circuit Judges and Magistrates in the Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo Regions has been organized by the Judicial Training Institute.

The workshop was intended to sensitise members of the Bench on Children's issues and also to discuss problem areas in the application of the relevant laws on children and juveniles. The seminar also discussed the law on domestic violence and matters pertaining to its application and enforcement.

The seminar was funded by UNICEF as part of the institutional capacity building plan which is geared toward the protection of the Child. It was expected that by the end of the seminar, Judges and magistrates would find a common purpose in the quest to make the justice delivery system more child friendly.

The workshop took place  from the 24 and 25 October 2008 at the Miklin Hotel, Kumasi.
