Judicial Workshop on Election Adjudication

The Judiciary of Ghana through the Judicial Training Institute (JTI) will hold a two day capacity building Judicial Workshop on Election Adjudication for selected Judges of the superior courts.

The workshop is intended to raise the level of awareness of participants on the law, practice and procedures in dealing with electoral disputes. This workshop is part of the capacity building initiative of the Honorable Lady Chief Justice and the Judicial Training Institute tailored to prepare the Judiciary for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December 2008.

The workshop would cover areas like the electoral system of Ghana, procedures in dealing with election petitions and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Election Disputes. The workshop is scheduled for to start on Monday 17 November 2008 at the Judicial Training Institute, Accra.

Speakers include Dr. Afari Gyan - Electoral Commission, Justice Dr. Seth Twum – Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Professor Kofi Kumado – Legon Centre for International Affairs(LECIA), Professor Kofi Quasigah, Mr. Nene Amegatcher and Justice S.A. Brobbey, JSC, Ag. Chairman of Board of Director of JTI.
